It is always humbling to attend a technology workshop.....it makes me appreciate how much I have to learn. I do have hope, however, of trying some of these ideas at my library. We have such knowledgeable people that present at these events. Wish me luck!

Recipe for Cheese Dip or Queso Dip

Hi there,

We are so thankful and lucky to have Christine here for technology training. I am learning so much and will like to try everything but there is a shorage of time for me. There is so much time in a day. Also there was a request for the dip recipe we had as a snack during the workshop. It is so simple. All you need is Velvetta cheese, Rotel tomates with green chile and diced tomatoes and hamberger meat. Just put all the ingrediantes in a crock pot. Simple and easy. See ya later!

Second day at APL workshop

Mother Nature has been good to us today. We do NOT need the air conditioner on at all and most everyone is comfortable today. Thank you Mother Nature!!!

Christine's workshops are great, how she can talk all day and not loose her voice is beyond me.

Hey it's great to be in Abilene at a SML Management Workshop, but my mind is on my step-daughter's wedding this coming weekend. Anyone know a good dress shop in Abilene? Yes! I waited until the last minute to buy a dress!
No chance of falling asleep in this library in Abilene. It's cold enough to hang meat on the front row! We were warned, but even a jacket is not enough for me. So between the cold air blowing in one's face and the interesting presentation on blogging, I'm awake in spite of a houseful of grown children coming home last night for the upcoming wedding.

Anyone else think it's too cold in the Abilene Public Library Meeting Room?

This SML program has been a real eye-opener for me. I will never think about blogs in the same way and plan to go home and implant what I have learned here. Chris Peterson ROCKS! She is the best, most interesting teacher available. I am so glad I was able to come to her class.

to filter or not to filter that's the question

Our library just started filtering, and I have to say it's been a relief to my staff, especially with the children. They don't feel the need to monitor the children with the filtering system on the job and doing it's thing. Gene Powers, our TANG person, came up with a pretty unique filtering system for the libraries of WTLS. It runs on it's own server so it's quite fast and very easy to manipulate. WTLS is so fortunate to have Gene working with us.

Aunt Eleanor's Fresh Apple Cake Recipe

Grease and flour bundt pan.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Mix: 1 1/2 cups oil (such as Canola) with 1 3/4 cups sugar. Add 2 eggs and beat well. Add 1 tsp vanilla.

Mix in another bowl: 3 cups flour, 1 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 tsp cinnamon.

Mix with oil/sugar mixture.

Add 2 cups diced, fresh apples (Granny Smith are ideal), you can mix with your hands.

Pour into prepared pan and bake for 50 minutes, until brown and firm.

May add nuts and/or dates and for Christmas, add other preserved fruit.

This tastes wonderful!

New Braunfels Fruit Salad

Here's the recipe for the fruit salad from New Braunfels:

1 pkg instant vanilla pudding
Mix with 1 cup cold orange juice
Drain canned fruit first
Get cold grapes, fresh bananas

Understanding the filtering methods and types of filtering that is available has been very informative.
